Accomac Inn Report
:

The chilling history of the property as well as the paranormal claims surrounding the Accomac Inn provided HGH with a prime investigation opportunity. Research of the property directed us to perform a full scale investigation of the Accomac Inn, including numerous dining areas, basement, attic, bar, women’s bathroom and gravesite. Key locations were identified by employees who have witnessed past paranormal activity, with equipment being strategically placed in these locations to validate or deny said claims. Our investigation was conducted on 7-2/3-10, with collection of almost 17 hours of audio, 4 hours of DVR, 3 hours of HD video, 64 pictures and trail camera footage.

Almost immediately upon starting our investigation, personal experiences were beginning to happen. The investigation started in the attic where numerous team members felt a cold sensation; no visual or audio indication of a presence was noticed at this time by any investigator. Only during playback of one of the audio recorders was an EVP captured saying “Kill”, thus validating the feelings that team members encountered.

After finishing our EVP session in the attic we decided to investigate the Anderson Room. Soon after settling down in the room, disembodied voices and EMF meter spikes were beginning to happen. The EMF meter spiked numerous times between a 2.0 and a 4.6 Mg. This is the first location where we heard a cats “meow”, sounding like it came out of thin air. Throughout the remainder or our investigation in the Anderson Room numerous disembodied voices were heard and EVP’s were captured.

Our next location was the basement. From our baseline measuring we knew that EMF meters would have to be used in a stationary manner; this was due to the high EMF readings throughout the basement.  While performing our investigation of the basement, numerous team members felt an uneasy presence and cold sensations. None of the cold sensations could be documented with a thermometer and the initial thought was that the EMF readings could be the cause of the uneasy feeling. Throughout the remainder or our investigation in the basement numerous disembodied voices were heard and EVP’s were captured to validate the personal experiences.

After a short break it was decided to split into two groups, girls went to the women’s bathroom and guys went to the basement. No activity was captured in the bathroom; the basement however, was a different story. Shortly after setting up in the basement a disembodied moan was heard and captured on camera. Directly after the moan, one guest of HGH was pinched on the arm. Running over to see what happened, due to his shocking response, our team began to investigate. We began by examining his arm for signs of anything that may have bitten or scratched him. Nothing could be found to be the cause of the small scratch on his left forearm. Later examination of his forearm showed no sign of an insect bite. Shortly after this happened a cat was heard meowing in the room by numerous team members, with no cat present. Throughout the remainder or our investigation in the basement numerous disembodied voices were heard and EVP’s were captured to validate the personal experiences.

While standing at central commend and preparing to finalize our investigation, something blocking out the light in the hallway window caught a guest’s eye. Upon investigation nothing could be found to be the cause of this. While returning to central command, a noise was heard in the attic. Stopping immediately and asking the question if anyone was in the attic, a “what” was relayed back to us. Numerous team members heard this and it was also captured on video/audio equipment. Immediately we went into the attic to investigate, nobody was present, but an extreme cold spot was noticed as soon as you reached the top of the step. Unfortunately this temperature drop could not be documented on a thermometer. No further evidence was captured in the attic.

Summation:

HGH investigates using scientific methods and will throw out any evidence that is questionable. Thus having the many personal experiences at the Accomac Inn, we were very hopeful to find supporting evidence during the review process. After final evidence review, we captured 16 EVP’s, 5 disembodied voices and numerous EMF meter spikes while performing our investigation. Some EVP’s were class A, while most were class B or C. Most were distinguishable random comments, while some where direct responses to questions with only a few that were inaudible. We were able to validate the claims of a cat being heard throughout the Inn, as well as some of the other disembodied voices that employees have noticed. Some of the eerie feelings in the basement could be due to the high EMF readings; however that does not rule out that paranormal activity is present in the basement, this was definitely a hot spot for activity, along with the Anderson Room and attic. Unfortunately, other than a cat, we cannot definitely say who or what roams the Accomac Inn. The many EVP’s and disembodied voices we captured only validate that there is a male and a female presence there that is harmless in nature. We also think that the close proximity to the Susquehanna River and the material (stone) that the building is constructed of help to fuel the activity at the Inn. HGH would like to continue to investigate the Inn to try to offer support for the owners and the many EVP’s we captured asking for help!

Herr Tavern Report:

The history of the property as well as the paranormal claims surrounding the Herr Tavern directed us to perform a full scale investigation of the property, but in order to not disturb the Inn guests and last minute opportunities; we were forced to perform a short 3-hour investigation. In order to cover as much ground as possible, multiple investigators were present.  Team members split up into two small groups and performed simultaneous investigations, without a central command station and DVR coverage. Investigation areas included the basement, attic, bar, Room 2, 3 and 5. Key locations were identified by employees who have witnessed past paranormal activity, with equipment being strategically placed in these locations to validate or deny said claims. Our investigation was conducted on 7-6-10, with collection of 6 hours of audio, 0 hours of DVR, 7 hours of video, 51 pictures and trail camera footage.

The investigation started in the basement for Team 1 and in Room 2 for Team 2. Team 1 performed an EVP session in the basement with no documentation of occurrences or personal experiences, other than some small EMF hits. Team 2 performed an EVP session in Room 2 at the same time, and was able to corroborate past claims of walking/movement in adjacent rooms and heard the door handle jiggle to the entrance door in Room 2, with nobody present to cause this. After finishing the sessions Team 1 went to Room 2, while Team 2 went to Room 5. While performing EVP sessions, Team 1 was able to corroborate past claims of walking/movement in adjacent rooms and heard the door handle jiggle to the entrance door in Room 2, with nobody present to cause this. Trying to recreate this experience, investigators paced the floor, opened adjacent doors, monitored air movement, while others observed the handle. No action was to able replicate the sound of the door handle jiggle, and adjacent room pacing sounded identical to what was observed. After settling back down for the remainder of the EVP session, both teams heard something fall/thrown outside the rooms. Later investigation found this to be a decorative ornament from a tree in the attic stairway. After listening to numerous audio clips of the event and previewing the fallen objects location from the point of origin, it seems like it was moved with force, rather than just had fallen. No video evidence is present to support this; therefore we cannot say it was paranormal.

After a short break, Team 1 went into the attic while team 2 investigated Room 3. Team 2 had no personal experiences while in Room 3. Team 1 experienced and documented a temperature drop from 97 degrees F to 87 degrees F. Baseline measure reading of the attic was 97 degrees F, with no fan, air movement or air conditioning that could cause this. Just prior to this temperature drop, an investigator and guest had a personal experience of what felt like someone run between them. Shortly after this occurrence, all 4 persons in the attic felt the cold sensation and could trace its movement. Not only was the event captured on video, this was in direct response to asking whatever was present to drop the temperature to 89 degrees F.

After finishing our EVP session in the attic Team 1 decided to investigate the basement again, while Team 2 investigated the attic and Room 2. No further personal experiences, other than a knocking response to a question was documented by either team. Being that this response only happened once we cannot say it is paranormal, but it was in direct response to an investigator asking for communication via making a noise.

After a quick discussion, Team 1 excitedly went back into the attic to try to have another documented personal experience, while Team 2 finished their night investigating the basement. No further experiences were observed by either teams and this was our final areas of investigation for the night.

Summation:

With only a short time to investigate, HGH knew we had to hit the place hard. Given our short timeframe we feel we had a very successful investigation. The documented temperature drop was the best manipulation of temperature we have ever captured on video. After final evidence review, we captured 13 EVP’s (some were repeated on numerous recording devices) and 1 disembodied voice. EVP’s were a mixture between Class B and C. Most were distinguishable random comments, while some where direct responses to questions with only a few that were inaudible. We were able to validate the claims of pacing and a door handle jiggle in Room 2 that employees and guests have noticed. Unfortunately we cannot definitely say who or what roams the Herr Tavern. The many EVP’s and disembodied voice we captured only validate that there is something/someone present. Given the history of the property, one can speculate it could be traced back to the Civil War or Underground Railroad, but we do not have documentation supporting or denying this. HGH would like the opportunity to one day perform a full scale investigation to help answer more questions.
